Basics Of Multiplication | Multiplication Tricks | Multiplication by 5

Multiplication by 5 seems easy as all of us know the table of 5. But when we multiply it by a Long Number then it becomes a little bit long.

Here is the Trick to quickly multiply any number by 5.

➤ Half the given number.

If it is an Even number we can simply take half of the given number But if it is an Odd number then we will subtract 1 from it and then take the half of the obtained result

➤ Check the given number which we are going to multiply is even number or odd number ?

If it is an Odd number the unit digit of result will be '5' and if it is an Even number then the unit digit of the result will be '0' .  

Logic- 

5 can be written as 10/2 (10 by 2), hence first we take half of the given number and then multiply it by 10 or simply put '0' at it's end.

For Ex. - 46 × 5

Step 1 :- As 46 is an even number we will simply take half of it which is 23

Step 2 :- As we know it is an even number we will put a '0' in the end.

Final Result :- 230.

Step 1 :- As 53 is an even number we will subtract 1 from it which results 52 and then take half of it which is 26
